Getting Started

Welcome!

My name is Jeff Duke and I am excited to be working with you over the coming months to gear up and prepare for your journey this summer!

I will be your main point of contact up until you depart. As a member of a National Delegation, you and I will be working with a group of other athletes from all around the country to build skills and knowledge that will enrich your travel experience. Together we will create a strong network of athletes and ensure that each one of you is fully prepared to travel.

In order to have the most successful experience on your Sports Ambassador Program, I need you to fully commit to making time for completing your assignments and staying in contact with me. Frequent communication whether by e-mail, phone or blogs etc. will help develop your game before travel. Please take a moment to review my expectations from you before you depart:

· Respond to each of my e-mails so that I know you have received and read it.
· Make sure you discuss my e-mails with your parents or guardians and keep them fully informed of your progress.
· Complete all of your assignments on time and keep them in a file.
· Make an effort to get to know the other members of your pre-travel group.

GETTING STARTED:

I would like you to look over the following directions and if you have not done so yet, please make time to log on to the Locker Room website and familiarize yourself with the resources there. You can use the Locker Room for information on fundraising, passports and visas as well.

· Log on to the locker room and make sure your name and contact information is entered correctly.
· Enter your uniform size, sport information and preferred position in the “My Sports Info” section.
· Passport check: If you have not applied for a passport yet, now is the time to get started. It can take six or more weeks to receive a U.S. Passport so don’t delay! Please review the visa and passport information on the Locker Room with your parents to determine the correct documentation you will need for travel.

ASSIGNMENTS:

In the Learning Center section of the Locker Room you will find your educational materials. Please complete the following directions:

· Read the Online Learning and Quiz Instructions.
· Complete the About Me: Introduction Sheet.
· Read the Explore Before You Go chapter on Germany and Austria’s geography.
· Complete the Austria and Germany quizzes.

If you have any problems with opening the attached files please let me know. For questions or general communication the best method to contact me is:

Welcome Sports Ambassadors

Welcome to the People to People blog page for basketball sports ambassadors. This unique program has sports ambassadors from all over the United States. In order to better serve the ambassadors, this blog will help with the communication of important information in the upcoming months as we prepare for the 2010 trip to Austria. It is important that the sports ambassadors check emails and this blog page for updates and information on a regular basis.
